What Makes It Uncommon
Let There Be Light
Turn your walkway into a little piece of paradise with this artful solar house sign. By day, it soaks up the sun. At night, it gets to work: Lighting your way after a long day, or welcoming guests to one of your well-loved dinner parties. Chris Crooks crafts each one from sturdy steel, incorporating a bright solar LED light that can also be plugged in for a charge. Choose from three designs (beach, lake, or grass and fireflies) and three hand-painted, weather-resistant colors (rust, green, or white). Energy-efficient and enchanting? That's our kinda design. Includes three stakes so it stays put. Handmade in Tucson, Arizona. Solar light made in China.

“I started out from my garage. As the business grew, and my wife’s and neighbors' patience stretched, it was time to move to an industrial space. There I can bang and grind at all hours of the night. It's 1,000 square feet of pure metalworking nirvana.”
Chris Crooks took a winding road to get to where he is now—creating imaginative lawn sculptures inspired by the Southwest landscape he calls home. After graduating from the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Chris worked in advertising, then ran a printing business with his wife, while painting during his free time. It was when the couple moved to Tucson that Chris collaborated with a metal art manufacturer and fell in love with the art form. He now designs and creates sculptures in his studio at the foot of the Santa Rita Mountains. "I always wanted to make a living doing something genuinely enjoyable," he says. "To get up in the morning raring to go, and never having enough time to do everything you want to do."

The design is very nice but the sign is much smaller than I expected. The solar light is very dim so the numbers do not show up well. I gave it four stars for being unique.

I absolutely love the metalwork - the color and design is perfect. Love it. It looks fantastic when lit too. Unfortunately, the solar light has under performed and after only a couple of months I'm having to look for a replacement light. Many of the earlier reviews mentioned bad solar lights & there was supposed to be a change moving forward. I don't know if I received one of the older type of lights or the newer one. Either way, the solar light instructions didn't match the light I received. For instance, there is no ON button on my light, but it's referenced in the instructions. I ordered mine late Feb and it's only the beginning of May. This item is sitting in full Texas sun and after only a couple of months outside the light is pretty much dead a couple of hours after sunset. Really disappointing. If the solar light was better, I'd absolutely give this 5 stars.

The was a gift for my sister and brother-in-law for their lake house and they loved it! She said that it was "one of my most favorite gifts that I've ever received". Which made me so happy!! It's a bit larger than I expected, in a good way. And even better quality than I thought, and I've ordered many things from Uncommon Goods. If you are thinking about buying this, do it. Well worth it.

She was able to easily move it around until she found the perfect spot for it

It is a well lit solar powered house sign. It is a beautiful design. I wish there was a larger size option as our house sits back from street and not easy to read
Caroline
This is a beautiful gift that would be great for a housewarming! We did the copper dragonflies pattern and it's really nice. Looks great from the road and is bright enough to be seen!

Great craftsmanship!

My aunt adores this solar house number lamp. Living in the mountains in Washington, there are not streetlights, and after visiting her new home I realized it would be difficult for her many out-of-state guests to identify her home from the road. This became my house-warming gift to her, and she was so thrilled I was bombarded with photo texts and calls the moment it arrived. I do wish there were a Mountains version. For me, the lake worked because she lives in the hills above the ocean shore, so the water and docks was appropriate enough. But a mountains image would have been ideal. #sweepstakes

It is my house number in the front yard. Our house number is on the mailbox and is a little confusing since the mailbox is by the driveway before you get to the house.
