Jamie Esslinger and Michael Smith are lifelong makers. Mike’s grandfather schooled him in traditional woodworking in his basement shop in Philadelphia. Jaime, a self-taught sewist, absorbs knowledge wherever it can be found. Both believe that working with your hands fulfills a basic human need, and are happiest when they’re covered in paint and sawdust. When they launched their own business, their goal was to leave hectic commutes and cubicles behind, and spend their days doing what they love. Everything they make is the result of hundreds of hours of trial and error, the accumulated knowledge of generations, mistakes, frustration, creativity, and thoughtfulness. They infuse love and care into each item they make, as it is these items that have made it possible for them to live the life they always dreamed of.
