What Makes It UncommonThe unspoken bond between a pet and pet parent is one of empathy, loyalty, and affection. They nuzzle their way into your life, becoming cuddly confidants, jogging buddies, and holiday card superstars. No matter how closely you hold them, someday they will cross the Rainbow Bridge*, leaving a paw-shaped hole in the hearts they once filled. Honor a beloved pet’s memory with a beautiful garden stone featuring their likeness recreated as a charming illustration below a joyful rainbow. It’s a touching memorial to a departed companion, whether your own precious pet or a loved one’s.
- Customize the look and text of the pet’s illustration with thoughtful designs that can accommodate mixed breeds, as well as common and pure breed registered names.
- Add the names of their human family members and personal memories or things they loved to do.
- Include the year the stone was dedicated or a range of years to represent the pet’s life.
- A metal hook is embedded in the back of the stone for hanging on a sturdy tree or fence post—just be sure to use a rust-proof nail or screw.
- Uncommon Exclusive: Created by our in-house team and only available at Uncommon Goods. Made in Pennsylvania.

“I like to keep things pretty simple. I focus on warmth, humor, and emotion.”
Patricia Carlin believes that a small sketch has the power to tell a story without language. She started out as an art director in Philadelphia, selling everything from potato chips to financial products. In 2001, a friend wanted help launching a glassware business, so Patricia designed and wrote copy for several products for the new venture. Patricia has explored many techniques in her illustration, but simple line drawing appeals to her most. "For me, paring things down to their simplest essence is always the best way to understand them," she says.
We chatted with Patricia about how she brings her charming illustrations to life (and got a look at her adorable studio cat). Read the Q&A on our blog. -
