At age 5, Alison DeBenedictis knew she wanted "to color for a living." When she got older, she discovered that making her art was even more fun. After studying children's book illustration, Alison detoured into graphic design and advertising but took a break from the ad business a few years ago to return to painting. Her playful characters attracted a following, and today, the Hudson, New York-based artist plans to convert her creative side hustle to a full-time illustration career.
