    The Fabric of America

"The work I do allows me to meet the most wonderful people," says Lydia Crespo of her vibrant geography art. "Some have been in the states their whole lives, some have not. The length of their residence does not matter, because we would not be whole without them."

To create each piece, Lydia uses a traditional Japanese technique called Shibori. First, she stitches the state's shape into raw silk, then ties the string tight and dyes the fabric with indigo. The pattern that's revealed can never be repeated, making yours truly one-of-a-kind— just like the place that has your heart. Handmade in St. Charles, Missouri.

Due to the handmade nature of this item, each is unique and will vary.
