    Care

Purchase heat pack for locations with temperatures below 40 degrees F.
Water: Keep the soil moist, not soggy, to a depth of 1". Water evenly on all sides of the plant. Soil & Planting: Blueberries need acidic soil to thrive; ideally the soil pH should be 4.5 to 4.8. Blueberries can be grown in the ground or in containers. Select a well-draining, large weatherproof container like a wooden barrel planter. Mulching is important for good blueberry growth. Blueberries are shallow rooted and mulch protects blueberry roots from temperature extremes and conserves moisture. As mulch decomposes, it also provides an organic layer that helps blueberry roots thrive. Fertilizer: We use a 10-10-10 fertilizer on our blueberries, but everyone’s soil medium is different. Be sure to read the label on your brand to know whether it is recommended for blueberries. No matter what brand you use, avoid fertilizing after early July so the blueberry bushes will not be growing too late into the fall. The bush
