  • What Makes It Uncommon
A gust of wind, a swing of mood. Featuring two natural stone "spirits" with faces that teeter between comedy and tragedy, Arra David and Anne Johnson's slightly spooky and very theatrical wind spinner adds a dose of drama and delight to your yard. Each expressive stone figure is perched on either end of a sleek aluminum balance bar. As the breeze picks up, the spinner moves in mesmerizing arcs—no electricity, no fuss, just personality in motion. Handmade and easy to install, it’s a kinetic conversation piece that keeps spirits high—or low—in the most entertaining way.

    • Hand-carved stone faces are mounted on a lightweight but durable aluminum rod and balance bar. Full set is designed for outdoor use and build to withstand the elments.
    • Moves naturally in the wind for constant, low-key motion.
    • No two stones are the same—each is a character of its own.
    • Stands approximately 36"H with a 30"W balance bar.
    • Handmade in New Hampshire.

    location

    New Hampshire

Inspiration ambushes me anytime, anywhere, and I welcome it.

During lifetimes spent around New England's forests and seacoast, Arra David and Anne Johnson have become masters of bringing the outdoors in. Stone, sun, wind, rain, and waves provide their raw materials. Arra and Anne transform them into well-designed, innovative works of handmade art with the help of a group of dedicated artisans they lovingly call "rockers." "We work together as a closely knit family," says Arra. "We all put our hearts, brains, muscles, and fingertips into everything we build." They use ethically forested wood, and replace each stone gathered from the water with a quarry rock that will eventually become another worn beauty.
