What Makes It UncommonJacek Kalich and Weronika Kalich bring centuries of Polish pottery tradition to life with this charming, chicken-shaped dish. Crafted from stoneware and finished by hand, each piece is poured into a mold, fired, painted with delicate flowers and a buzzing bee, glazed, then fired again—all without a single machine guiding the way. Whether it’s serving up snacks in the kitchen, storing soap in the bathroom, or keeping your rings cozy on the nightstand, this petite dish is full of personality and function.

created by Jacek Kalich and Weronika Kalich
Husband and wife Jacek and Weronika Kalich hail from Boleslawiec, Poland, the epicenter of Polish pottery making and a candidate for UNESCO World Heritage status. Jacek started the business in his garage with three artists but now employs 30. The process involves a sculptor creating a mold, hand-pouring clay, drying, smoothing, the first firing, cleaning, painting, glazing, a second firing, and packing. Each artisan meticulously handles a specific step before the pottery is shipped to America.
