What Makes It Uncommon
Party of Five
Given the option of eating by themselves or with a large group, snails are all about the big dinner party. Celebrate your love of family by inviting this sweet sculptured quintet to your backyard or garden. Designed by maker Chris Crooks, each creature (two adults, two kids, and one baby) is formed from laser-cut steel and boasts its own stake to customize the group's order. Best of all, this adorable slime-free fam has no interest in eating your plants. But they do love compliments, so keep them coming. Handmade in Arizona.Made from

“I started out from my garage. As the business grew, and my wife’s and neighbors' patience stretched, it was time to move to an industrial space. There I can bang and grind at all hours of the night. It's 1,000 square feet of pure metalworking nirvana.”
Chris Crooks took a winding road to get to where he is now—creating imaginative lawn sculptures inspired by the Southwest landscape he calls home. After graduating from the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Chris worked in advertising, then ran a printing business with his wife, while painting during his free time. It was when the couple moved to Tucson that Chris collaborated with a metal art manufacturer and fell in love with the art form. He now designs and creates sculptures in his studio at the foot of the Santa Rita Mountains. "I always wanted to make a living doing something genuinely enjoyable," he says. "To get up in the morning raring to go, and never having enough time to do everything you want to do."

These lawn snails are just as cute in real life :) I gifted them to my mom for Mother's Day - she loves them! She actually gave each of us a snail and kept the big one, so we can all be connected even though we're far apart.

This is a ridiculously stilted set up for comments - (above) allowing only a few words at a time. I won't waste my time on it. For my friend Claudia who loves to garden in a eclectic manner and has a French husband - the family of "escargot" is perfect. She can play around with placement and the rusted look fits beautifully with the casual meanderings of her garden setting. As she said: So Her!

I have had my eye on this set for a long time, and was happy to finally make this purchase. My grandfather's birthday falls after the New Year, so I didn't mind that it was listed as shipping after the Christmas holiday. But now I'm even happier that I received it well ahead of schedule & can give this to him for Christmas. AND return to UG for his birthday gift next month!

My mom has everything she needs and buys most everything she wants. This adorable little set was the perfect gift for her in her sweet, little, garden! She absolutely loves it and the craftsmanship couldn't be better! Thank you!
